plastic clam, invasive Pacific oysters, epoxy teeth, fluctuating aquarium lights, air pumps
As part of an ongoing investigation into alien invasive species, this work reconsiders the ecosystem as a site of negotiation rather than intrusion. Developed in dialogue with marine biologist David Thieltges, it centers on the Pacific oyster as a figure of adaptation, transformation, and exchange. Two aquariums face each other, activating in alternating rhythms. As the lights shift, their inhabitants enter a bubbling, submerged dialogue—communicating across a divide that is both physical and symbolic.
